Gangseo University Selected as a General Operating Institution for the 2025 Immigrant Social Integration Program
The Ministry of Justice has selected Gangseo University (President Kim Yong-jae) as a general operating institution for the Immigrant Social Integration Program and the Early Adaptation Program for Immigrants, which will be implemented from 2025 to 2027.
The Immigrant Social Integration Program is designed to provide systematic education in Korean language, culture, economy, society, and law for immigrants residing in Korea, including foreign workers, marriage immigrants, and international students. The Early Adaptation Program for Immigrants supports long-term residents by helping them adjust smoothly to Korean society from the early stages of their stay. In addition to Korean language instruction, it offers essential information on Korean laws, systems, and social integration in 18 different languages, assisting immigrants in overcoming challenges during their initial settlement period.
From 2025 to 2027, Gangseo University will serve as a core operating institution specializing in the diaspora, offering levels 2 through 5 of the Social Integration Program. In accordance with Ministry of Justice guidelines, the university plans to operate the program in three semesters per year. The curriculum will support learners’ understanding of Korean language, culture, and society through level-specific education and evaluation. The university will also offer customized programs for international students, overseas Koreans, and residents of immigrant-dense areas.
For the first semester of the Social Integration Program, Gangseo University has launched a weekend course for level 3, which is already receiving active participation from students. A university representative stated, “We are committed to doing our best to help immigrants settle stably into Korean society through this program.”
