Student Visa Issuance
D-2 Visa is a study visa issued to international students(bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral course or exchange students) pursuing education in Republic of Korea.
- Eligibility: Students who are registered in regular degree programs
- Duration: Initial stay period=Maximum 2 years (extendable)
- Process: Apply at Korean embassy or consulate (students who do not have visa)
Apply at immigration (students who are changing their visa) - Documents:

- Passport (copy and original)
- Photo (3.5×4.5, white background, taken within 3 months)
- Certificate of Admission
- Alien Registration Card (for registered foreigners only)
- Proof of highest education (graduation certificates, diploma, etc.)
- Proof of financial capability (bank statement)

Visa Extension
Students must apply for a visa extension in advance before their D-2 Visa expires.
- Check before application
- If you have re-issued your passport, notification of change in registration information should be done at the immigration office before applying for e-petition.
- Please check whether you paid local tax and national health insurance fee.
- Please check whether you declared an address change if you have moved your address of residence.

- Application Form
- Passport (copy)
- Alien Registration Card (copy)
- Certificate of Enrollment (Certificate of Completion for students who finished regular semesters)
- Transcript
- Tuition Fee Certificate
- Bank Balance Certificate (Students who fail to meet the academic and attendance requirements.)
- Confirmation for Thesis Schedule or Extra Semester (for students who are in thesis semester or extra semester)
- Proof of Residence (House contract, etc.)

Visa Cancellation
- Taking leave of absence
- Getting expelled from the university
- Failing to register (pay tuition fee)
- Not following procedure for leaving Korea
- When the university is unable to locate the student.
Leaving and re-entering Korea
- Students my leave and re-enter Korea during their vacation period, without restriction.
- During semester, if students are leaving Korea, they should notify university of their coming and going.
- Do not submit your ARC (alien registration card)
